Associate Director, Global Collaboration Agreements

Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension

Pay: $60-70 per hour


Description:

In this role you will be a part of a team that is responsible for establishing, negotiating and executing academic collaboration agreements for Oncology R&D. The team plays a key role in ensuring that value is generated for the organization through transacting on deals to support the Oncology R&D strategy.


As a member of a multinational, multifunctional team, your role will be to support Oncology R&D in the execution of agreements to support collaborative interactions with our key academic partners worldwide. You will liaise with other functions and team members as required to ensure agreements are fit for purpose and compliant. You will be an ambassador for AstraZeneca in your interactions with external parties, helping Oncology R&D to maintain relationships with current and potential future academic partners.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Working with others in the External R&D group, wider Oncology R&D and other functions as required, prepare, negotiate and execute various types of collaborative agreements with academic partners.
  • Advise internal Oncology R&D stakeholders on the most appropriate type of agreement to cover specific collaborative and partnering opportunities.
  • Lead and manage re-negotiations and terminations as necessary for academic collaborations.
  • Manage relationships with potential partners in a timely and professional manner; ensuring that AstraZeneca remains competitive in discussions.


Required:

  • Degree in a relevant scientific or legal discipline or significant relevant experience and knowledge from working in the life science sector.
  • Postgraduate research contracts or technology transfer office experience in academia, biotech or the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Good understanding of key principles of contracts, intellectual property and value drivers relevant to academic collaboration agreements and related transactions.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to effectively understand and act on complex information under high time pressure situations.
  • Project management experience.
  • Good working knowledge of all relevant regulations, ensuring industry standards are applied.
  • Preferred- Second degree in a relevant scientific or business discipline.
