Location: Will work at Waltham and Cambridge. Will start at Waltham, then move to Cambridge by 2026. Will work at both starting out.

Up to 2 days a week from home.

Schedule: Hybrid- 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

Duration: 24-36 months project

Start date: January 6, 2025

Travel: 10% to Gaithersburg, MD office


A reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position is $58-63 per hour. The compensation range is specific to the United States and incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.

About the role:   

Working independently to support the delivery of high-quality learning initiatives in a complex, dynamic and global setting. You will be an excellent networker and collaborator, with business partners and subject matter experts to deliver quality and innovative learning resources and drive communications to garner support and interest from partners and the learner audience alike. 


The primary focus of the role over the next 24-36 months is to support our Boston Site Operations and Kendall Square Operational Readiness teams with a focus on developing and implementing a learning strategy to support all employees interfacing and operating with the buildings within the Boston ecosystem.    


May be involved in the identification of training needs and evaluation of external courses. This role will be an individual contributor or manage a small team, will undertake direct training on any subject.  



Key responsibilities: 

Performance Consulting 

  • Develop governance model and strategic framework for learning and development.  Proactively consult and collaborate with functional leads and other stakeholders to gather technical content across workstreams such as hard services, soft services, security, safety, health & environment and lab operations. 
  • Provide instructional design expertise, feedback, and guidance for content and workshops created by the operational readiness team to ensure adherence to adult learning and instructional design principles that align with our mission, values and objectives.
  • Anticipate and resolve complex operational problems that can result in challenging methods of knowledge transfer. 
  • Serve as a key resource within the operational readiness team. 
  • Contribute as an active member of the R&D learning practitioner community, contribute to sharing of best practices and developing L&D capability for self and peers.  Learning Solution Analysis, Design and Development 
  • Conduct needs and target audience assessment and analysis to identify learning and performance gaps. 
  • Perform ongoing internal and external research and benchmarking to identify and implement best practices. Design and implement evaluation methodologies to measure the effectiveness of learning programs in terms of knowledge acquisition, behavioral change, and business impact. 
  • Employ advanced principles of adult learning design to create engaging learning pathways and programs that cater to the diverse needs of adult learners within the organization. Tailor instructional materials to accommodate various learning modalities such as in-person, virtual, and on-demand settings. 
  • Apply effective project management to ensure timely delivery of key elements of Boston Site Operations and Operational Readiness learning programs.   
  • Effectively utilize technology to support development of learning and performance solutions (e.g., slides, SCORM-compliant e-Learning, video production etc.) and ensure they can be integrated within Degreed and Cornerstone (AZ learning management systems).  
  • Integrate learning models and strategies with diversity and inclusion in mind to promote equality and ensure all employees have equal opportunities.  
  • Keeps abreast of external trends in L&D technologies and approaches and makes recommendations for benefit of learning programs. Implementation 
  • Lead the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of multiple complex L&D projects. This includes scheduling, program logistics, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. 
  • Develop and lead a plan to ensure timely implementation of learning solutions in cooperation with other L&D personnel, site operation team, and operational readiness leads.Facilitate or co-facilitate programs leveraging exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presentation, classroom instruction, and train-the-trainer capabilities. Group facilitation experience is highly regarded. 


Measurement and Reporting 

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through participant feedback and performance metrics. 
  • Analyze complex data to make informed decisions and provide regular reports on training outcomes and recommendations for improvement. Coaching and Facilitation 
  • Coordinate and facilitate (where needed) coaching sessions for multiple levels, including team members and managers. 
  • Persevere and adapt under pressure, maintaining a positive and professional “customer-focused” attitude. 
  • Foster a learning and change culture in support of continuous improvement.    


Requirements:   

    Bachelor's degree or M.S. degree in Instructional Systems Technology, Adult Learning, Education, Organizational Development, or equivalent experience.  

    5+ years of experience in Learning and Development, with a strong emphasis on the facilitation of both soft skills and technical skills training. 

    Preferably experience of a Pharma environment and knowledge of the site operations. 

    Proven ability to deliver and/or coordinate delivery of training in both in-person and virtual environments. 

    Sharp analytical skills with experience interpreting complex data for informed decision-making. 

    Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, including interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to partner with subject matter experts (SMEs), key stakeholders, global counterparts, and executives in a matrixed environment. 

    Professional project management experience, including end-to-end project/program management. 

    Demonstrated experience in creating highly technical training in a variety of formats. 

    Strong ability to think strategically and execute tactically in a fast-changing environment. 

    Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and virtual training tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams). 

    Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.  Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply (English/Spanish).
