Overview:
This position will be responsible for designing completions, preparing procedures, cost estimates, and other documentation while working with field supervisors during implementation. The successful candidate will be tasked to further the understanding of completion designs in the Permian and drive value based solutions as a philosophy. All members of the completion team are responsible for leading efforts in Health, Environment, and Safety (HES). This will consist of meeting with contractors, both on- and off-site, considering HES issues in completion design, participating in incident investigations, generating corrective actions, and providing HES leadership while on location. Continuous improvement, both operationally and in HES, will require collaboration with Asset Team members, other Marathon Completion Engineers, field personnel, and the broader industry.
Responsibilities:
• Research, understand, and interpret cost drivers and risks associated with various completion procedures and utilize appropriate resources to implement safe and efficient completions of new wells.
• Implement geology and reservoir properties into area specific stimulation design. Be innovative while making data driven decisions and recommendations.
• Construct completion procedures with cost and time estimates and utilize best practices from a wide variety of operations.
• Generate well specific AFEs and track variances to actual performance.
• Monitor performance, schedule, production, and cost and make recommendations for achieving completion goals.
• Follow total well construction activities and understand implication of those activities on completion activities.
• Effectively communicate at various levels and with various audiences as well as across organizations.
• Self-motivated and able to work undirected alone as well as within a multifunctional team; turn direction into action.
• Accepts accountability for success and failure; communicates and disseminates details on both to improve overall operational efficiency.
• Be adaptive and collaborative with the broader Permian Basin team.
• Provide safety leadership throughout completion operations. Participate in or lead incident investigations, vendor visits, or safety meetings as required.
Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical preferred.
• Experience: One to Five years’ of experience in onshore completions operations preferred but not required. Unconventional, horizontal completion and/or Delaware experience is preferred. Experience in managing produced water projects and water treatment facilities preferred.
• Computer Skills: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Spotfire and Wellview experience strongly preferred.
• Additional Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks at one time. Must be a self-motivated individual with a strong drive to improve results and possess excellent communication, teamwork, planning, and organizing skills.
